There is no doubt that using a balance ball forces you to develop the core and can make a lot of exercises much more effective. However, I paid almost twice as much for my first balance/exercise ball at the place that was recommended by my trainer. These are every bit as heavy duty and seem as durable. In fact, I was able to get a size that was more ideal for my height -- that wasn't an option when I made my first purchase -- so several of the exercises like pushups are much more comfortable...so I do more of them!
